I teach piano at all levels and ages. I particularly enjoy teaching beginners, whether very young or up to adult age. The past several years have also included teaching pedagogy (teacher certification) to several students, which I found particularly rewarding. Theory instruction includes all levels of Rudiments and Basic Keyboard Harmony, (played, not written).

My philosophy is to develop a musician. This means we use the piano to learn playing and interpretive skills which comprehensively include technique, theory, sight reading, ear training, music appreciation, ensemble work and creative work. I endeavor to develop lifelong musicians who will continue to enjoy creating and sharing music through the years. Students are encouraged to participate in school bands and choirs to enhance their critical listening and enjoyment of music. Exposure to many styles of repertoire has proven to provide broader skills and greater motivation. I include RCM exams for students as a rewarding evaluation of their hard work and achievement.
